The Association

Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association helped me to get fit, healthy and active after my accident, which made a huge difference to my physical recovery and my outlook on life. This is my chance to give something back, and make sure that other people with disabilities get the same chance that I did.

Alan Hammer -

Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association has been helping people with a disability lead active, healthy lives and achieve their sporting dreams since 1977.

We provide sport, recreation, fitness and rehabilitation programs for people with physical disabilities such as spinal cord injury, and for people who are blind or vision-impaired.

As Hammer knows, our support can be life-changing. Regular physical activity has proven benefits for people with a disability; it helps to improve independence and self-esteem, improves strength and fitness to cope with day-to-day tasks such as transferring in and out of a wheelchair, and develops social networks.

We raise the majority of our own funding through donations, fundraising activities and corporate support. We hope that you’ll be inspired by Hammer’s Targa Challenge and support his amazing fundraising mission.
