Heck Yeah … We finished Round 2 “Hellyer Gorge” …… What a Journey >>>>
It was to get everything to burnie in tassie’s north west and then everything back the same way it went , that being the car , the navigator and the driver , amazing event , amazing people , amazing experience , and ?
Whilst we didn’t WIN ? We didn’t come last either , still there was NO NO NO way we didn’t feel like WINNERS just finishing , I’ll never forget it , one Hail Mary on this rally came in the last stage , 4kms from the finish line we went into a blind corner and perhaps a bit HOT (finish line fever) , but thanks to a year and a half of driving training (Dr Stokell’s driving race coaching really had us covered) then all the circuit and track days , gymkhanas , and with 2 targa events under the belt , without thinking , my hands just made the corrections (one was to recover from the oversteer one way and the other to do the same in the other direction) grabbed a handful of power at the same time and we pulled the masa into shape just in time to make the next (short and looming quickly) corner , the only , “oh shyt” moment during the whole rally , how quickly the devastation on the last stages of round 1 Mt Buller serendipitously flashed into our minds , actually I’m so glad it happened (did evoke miss daisy driving style after till the end albeit) as went pass the FINISH line ?
Only made it so so much BETTER , Never been so Proud of my son and so Happy for us as a TEAM :-):-):-)</em>
Crossing the line ? Before I knew what was happening my son put his fist out for a fist punch , our first , he does it allot when playing doubles with his partner but this time ? It was with me , no better moment in life for a father than right THEN :-):-):-):-)
Hellyer OR ? HELL YER more like it ;-);-);-)
To everyone who has supported us and our imitative to raise money for the SW charity , challenge ourselves , inspire other people with disabilities to chase their dreams and create an annual Tarmac Rally Father – Son TEAM , we say thank you from the bottom of our hearts , now we have only the most grueling , most dangerous and hardest event to come , the Targa Tasmania 7 days of madness , will we survive , a 14 year old and a bloke who has only the use of 2 arms and a head (head is not such an asset I can tell you) …. The warm ups are done , now , we prepare for what will be the biggest challenge of our lives , time to cowboy up and just DO IT !!
Some ACTION in the Masa >>>
Maybe one day , Ya gotta have DREAMS >>>
Happy moments for the winners , but for sure also for us , we did it , we conquered Hell-Yer in 2015 and there at the end >>>
